Aussie Mummy Bloggers with the X-Factor Awards: Squiggle Mum
Name: Squiggle Mum
Blog: http://squigglemum.com/

1.How long have you been blogging for?
I’ve been blogging for two years.
2.What made you decide to start your own blog?
I wanted a space to hone my writing skills, encourage other mums and give me a creative outlet. After leaving the career I adored as a teacher and becoming “just a mummy” I also needed to reclaim for myself a sense of identity.
3.How do you enjoy to spend your time outside of blogging?
I love spending time outdoors with the kids, especially if we’re bird watching or tree climbing! I still try to squeeze in time for my first writing love: picture books. And hubby and I enjoy a coffee at the end of the day.
4.How many children do you have?
I have two munchkins. Miss 4 is a confident, bubbly nature-lover who is off to school this year. Mr 2 is a happy, cheeky toddler with boundless energy!
5.What posts are you most proud of?
I’m proud of posts which combine my educational background with thoughts about parenting (http://squigglemum.com/kids/climbing-trees), posts which encourage families to enjoy outdoor play (http://squigglemum.com/activities/activities-outdoor/how-to-build-a-creek-bed) and posts which reflect my beliefs (http://squigglemum.com/faith/sadness-and-kindness). Of course it’s always exciting to interview celebs in the world of children’s entertainment such as Jimmy Giggle (http://squigglemum.com/win/giggle-and-squiggle-giveaway) and run giveaways too!
6.What do you enjoy blogging about most?
Outdoor play. And literacy. And mothering. And happy healthy kids. And…
7.What projects/articles are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on an ebook for the blog, a backyard playscape for the kids, and a never-ending pile of picture book manuscripts. I’m also working on a few exciting collaborations with other bloggers.
8.Why should viewers vote for your blog in the X-Factor Awards?
There are so many wonderful mummy blogs down under – I can’t ask for votes! Readers, I hope you enjoy browsing through the shortlisted blogs, and vote for the blogger who feels like a friend you are yet to meet.
9.What can we expect from your blog in 2011?
More from a mother’s heart, a teacher’s mind and a writer’s hand!
